!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
I think maybe the author is unaware of trolling or chose to ignore the fact that people are reveling in grief here: there is no f'ing way people could be so stupid as to believe that stormtroopers are an all-white outfit (no f'ing pun intended... well, maybe sorta).

An interesting thing to note is that pre-denouncement of "OMG people are freaking out about the black stormtrooper" preceded and exceeded by several orders of magnitude any actual freaking out.

Yeah, kind of press-inspired wannabe hysteria.

If the troopers are all clones of the same pretty much white guy, then yes, stormtroopers are each individually pretty much white. I think there is some precedent in the canon for the clone troops to have admitted recruits, though, so certainly by the post-Emperor era this would be a possibility.

You have got to be trolling me.

I'm sure someone who is a more super fan than me can chime in but all the storm troopers are clones of Jango Fett who isn't black. Didn't read the article and don't really care about the 'controversy.' We don't know the plot and from the way the character acts in the trailer it's more likely hes impersonating a storm trooper and on the run. If he's just a black storm trooper thats cool also.

Yeah, Lucas seemed to be saying that Django cloned all these men and he's Samoan so your interpretation be damned. It's noted in the article that the man is Polynesian. I guess as irony to back up the "controversy." You're right, it gets more ridiculous every time I consider the validity of the story.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that there are in fact black guys in star wars...it's OK

I had that exact graphic as a signature once. It either said "Billy Dee Approved" or "Works Every Time."

I think it's hysterical that in the middle of a "galaxy far far away" that has blue and green and red aliens walking around but everyone fake-freaks out over a black dude in a storm trooper outfit.
(btw I'm a pretty big time star wars fan)
Epic question though. If you watch all 6 movies. Do you start at 4 or do you start at 1?
What's more important, the story timeline, or the filming timeline?!

Read the article and this whole thing just induced a head shaking. Also "The Christian 'Science' Monitor" is probably the source of the problem. Is it a controversy or are they just aggregating the internet's normally raciest undertones and calling it one?

Imperial Remnant troops in local systems were virtually all conscript, and the initial batch of clones were spent to a degree by the Battle of Yavin and had been supplemented by local recruitment and additional clone sources. Imperial pilots made a transition to non-clone forces years before. That being said, the first part of that statement may be tossed out to a degree with the EU revision. There's also certainly precedent for "the good guys" and non-Imperial sources recycling stormie armor or using it in disguise.
The stormtroopers in Ep. IV are pretty clearly all from the same clone batch (voice match), but aren't necessarily Fett clones.

I hear (someone posted an article around here a while ago) that the best order is 4,5,2,3,6.... omitting 1. I read the article and it makes all sorts of sense, I believe they called it machete order.

That is all

Fascinating. I liked the one before his Machete method. the 4,5,1,2,3,6 method.
Because like I said I like 1 more than I'm supposed to. I'm just a Star Wars nerd at heart and anything in the Star Wars Galaxy/Universe I'm interested in.
EDIT:
I have digital copies of the ORIGINAL TRILOGY.
No edited in later crap. The original releases. Those are the only versions of 4,5, and 6 I watch.

I would like to note that the Empire, historically, was rascist against ALIENS and WOMEN, if you were a human dude of any color you were good with them. Also while the first couple of generations of troopers were all clones, after that the programs couldn't keep up with demand, and so recruits were accepted.
Sincerely,
Oppo's resident Star Wars supernerd.

Btw, to all those who would give their young lives to a military stint of any length, remember this:
Luke Skywalker was going to enlist with the empire and become an imperial whatever. I'll tell you what he was going to become: an Imperial Peon. An Imperial Grunt, an Imperial Shithead.
Don't let some recruiter sweet talk you into "preparing you for the future and giving you career skills" and blah blah blah, no. Skywalker would have been on "Is that Sarlac alive or dead" duty or "can we really freeze someone in carbonite" duty or at best construction detail on some Hoth-like hellhole.
A wiser man than me (Ted Knight) once said: "The world needs ditch diggers too!" And doesn't the empire know it.
